A cook received 13th month and retirement pay after successful Single Entry Approach (SENA) conciliation-mediation conferences conducted by the Regional Conciliation and Mediation Board-National Capital Region (RCMB-NCR), Director Estrella B. Rosal said recently.

“The cook received a total of Php 676,000.00,” OIC-Executive Director Shirley M. Pascual said, citing reports from Director Rosal.

Melanio Dizon filed a complaint before the RCMB-NCR on September 09, 2015, alleging delay in the payment of his 13th month and retirement pay.

His case fell before Con-Med Rowena M. Gutierrez, who needed only two conciliation-mediation conferences to settle the complaint.

In the last conciliation-mediation conference, or on September 28, 2015, Mr. Dizon agreed to proceed to the Hotel after being informed that his 13th month and the computation of his retirement pay are already available and ready for release once he approves the computation.

“Had the parties not been very cooperative, the parties may be forced to square-off before a labor arbiter,” Pascual added.

SENA is a reform measure introduced by Labor Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis Baldoz when she assumed office in 2010. The program seeks to simplify the processing of labor cases in the department. Under the program, complaints are processed with conciliation as initial step. If the case is not settled within 30 days, it is elevated to the appropriate office of the department.

Pascual commended the efforts of Con-Med Gutierrez for facilitating the settlement of this case.
