Regional Conciliation and Mediation Board-National Capital Region Director Edgar G. Aquino led recently the ASAPP meeting on 11 June 2020.

The Webinar is an enhancement seminar which tends to harness partnership among social partners amid the Covid 19 pandemic.

Dir. Aquino presided the Zoom meeting participated in by ASAPP officers and NCMB Staff.  “Since we are under the new normal, and all the health protocols such as social distancing, wearing of face mask and regular handwashing, to prevent the contamination and spread of Covid 19, we deemed it proper to hold a Zoom meeting, where everyone can listen and participate,” Aquino said.   “A  Zoom Meeting  refers to a video conferencing meeting that is hosted using Zoom. Everyone can join the meeting via computer,  phone or tablet,” Aquino added.

Dir. Aquino discussed some DOLE issuances relative to the effect of Covid 19 to the employers and their employees. He discussed several labor advisories such as Labor Advisories numbers 13, 13-A, 14 and 17.  The advisories pertain to the payment of regular holidays, deferment of payment of holiday, the non-inclusion of the one-month ECQ on the six-month probationary period, and the introduction of alternative working arrangements to preserve employment. He also talked about D. O. No. 213, which provides for guidelines in the prescription of actions and the suspension of reglementary period to file pleadings, motions and other documents, and the NCMB  guidelines about the handling of NOS, PM and NTA cases.

“The initial webinar meeting via Zoom was a success.  The challenges met, and the meeting via Zoom looked promising,” Aquino further added.

The webinar was attended by 8 individuals, (6 males and 2 females) from 5 companies.

“We will have many of this Zoom meeting this year, and the years to come, if vaccine for Covid 19 is not yet found,” Aquino said to close the meeting./Renato R. Canutal
