This is what exactly happened to the negotiation by the South Supermarket Inc. and Samahang Manggagawa sa South Supermarket after they have concluded negotiations of their collective bargaining agreement on 03 November 2015, Regional Conciliation and Mediation Board- NCR Director Estrella B. Rosal announced recently.

Earlier, or on 12 October 2015, management sought the Branch assistance through a Preventive Mediation against the union stand on wage increase, loyalty bonus, union leave, seniority pay, and signing bonus.

Director Rosal praised Conciliator-Mediator Ma. Yolanda P. Miñoria proficiency in handling the case which led to its immediate settlement on 03 November 2015, with only three conciliation conferences conducted.

The renegotiated CBA, which will benefit a total of 110 union members, has an estimated economic package amounting to Php 20 M. It includes wage increases amounting to Php 50/day increase retroactive June 16, 2015 to December 15, 2016 and Php 50/day effective December 16, 2016 up to June 15, 2018; seniority pay of .05 (five centavos); loyalty bonus of plus Php50 per bracket from 4 years to less than 10 years and plus Php50 for 10, 20, 30 years brackets; union leave of plus 30 days and a plus P8,000 signing bonus per covered employee.

The current negotiation as compared to their past negotiations has to suffer enormously from the union un-official stand and off-the-record demands despite its final offer on all the five (5) deadlock issues.  Management, though exasperated but still wanting to write finis to their negotiation, sought the Branch help instead.

“Aside from the huge efforts of Con-Med Yolanda, the sincerity of management to maintain its current relationship with the union, was also a big factor in concluding their negotiations”, Dir. Rosal added.

Mr. Florante Rances, union president, expressed gratitude to the Branch and to the management of South Supermarket for their patience and understanding.

Rances added
