National Conciliation and Mediation Board Executive Director Shirley M. Pascual announced recently the settlement of labor dispute involving Mr. Rebocato V. Villasis, Jr. and Career Philippines Shipmanagement, Inc.

“I would like to commend Conciliator-Mediator Helena R. Flores for her efforts in facilitating the settlement of the NTA after it was filed sometime December last year, “Pascual said citing a report from RCMB-NCR OIC-Director Amorsolo V. Aglibut.

On December 04, 2015, Mr. Villasis with the assistance of his counsel, filed the Notice to Arbitrate with the Branch seeking payment of total and permanent disability claims, damages and attorney’s fees.

Following the successful conciliation efforts of Con-Med Flores, the settlement was facilitated 77 days after the NTA was filed.

“Through the determined efforts of Con-Med Flores, the representative of the manning agency and the counsel of Mr. Villasis were able to discuss the benefits due him,” Pascual added.

The manning agency agreed to pay him the amount of Php 2, 799, 000.00 as full settlement of his claims.

Mr. Rebocato V. Villasis, Jr. is an able seaman of MV SELETAR SPIRIT (EX CAPE ENDEAVOUR). He held that position until his repatriation to the Philippines sometime March 2015 due to physical injury.
