The notice of strike filed by the GoodYear Steel Pipe Corporation Employee’s Union -AGLO has been settled, NCMB Executive Director Shirley M. Pascual announced recently.

Pascual, citing a report from Director Feliciano R. Orihuela, Jr., said that the Union filed the notice of strike case against the firm on 30 January 2018 on account of massive dismissal, union busting, violation of CBA, harassment, coercion of security guards, among other.

They agreed to amicably settle all the issues including the issues decided by the arbitrator which is pending appeal with the Court of Appeals on 06 March 2018, following series of conciliation-mediation efforts at RCMB-NCR.

The salient features of the agreement provides that the Union will lift the strike and management shall pay all the retired employees subject of the decision by AVA Josephus Jimenez which the management has appealed before the Court of Appeals.

The agreement also provides that the suspension of 30-day to workers involved was deemed served upon the signing of the agreement.  The agreement does not cover the union president who was considered on voluntary leave of absence for 30-day without pay.

The agreement resulted into the company’s full operation again.

According to Director Orihuela, there is really light at the end of the tunnel.  Of course, the able assistance provided by con-med Estelita S. Bautista  was also a factor in resolving the dispute, Orihuela added.

Pascual commended the efforts of con-med Bautista in facilitating the settlement of the case and ensuring the return of normal operations in the company.
