National Conciliation and Mediation Board Officer-in-Charge Shirley M. Pascual announced today the settlement of labor dispute involving Sealanes Marine Services, Inc. and the heirs of Jesus V. Napiza.

Citing a report from RCMB-NCR OIC-Director Amorsolo V. Aglibut, pascual said the labor dispute between the deceased’ manning agency and his heirs was amicably settled on February 11, 2016, following the successful conciliation efforts of OIC-Director Aglibut.

The settlement was quickly facilitated within one day from the date of filing.

Pascual thanked Aglibut for providing his assistance to the heirs of the deceased seaman.

The lawyer for the manning agency and heirs of the deceased seaman with their counsel discussed extensively the benefits owing to them by virtue of the death of Mr. Napiza.

The parties agreed to provide US $ 200, 000.00 as death benefits to the surviving heirs of Mr. Napiza.

Mr. Jesus V. Napiza is an able seaman of MV Castoro II. He held the position of a helper until his death.

Sealanes Marine Services, Inc. is his manning agency while Global Petroprojects Services is the principal ship owner.
