Four office staff, a domestic helper and a human resource officer were paid a total of P2,769,144.73 in retirement and other monetary benefits after the Regional Conciliation and Mediation Board (RCMB) National Capital Region settled their separate complaints through the Single Entry Approach (SENA), Director Estrella B. Rosal announced today.
Rosal, in her report to OIC-Executive Director IV Shirley M. Pascual, said that the four office staff Mssrs Jose Turiano, Jr. and Armando Capuyon and Misses Melliza Sumabat and Agnes Tabuena who used to work with Manila Hotel Corporation in Manila came to the RCMB- NCR on September 24, 2015 to seek assistance regarding their complaint for retirement benefits.
On even date, the parties reached an agreement after the complainants accepted the offer of the management. Turiano and Capuyon accepted the amount of P762, 993.59 and P519, 822.66, respectively while Sumabat and Tabuena got P171, 546.92 and 1,222,835.87, respectively as full and complete settlement of their claims.
On the other hand, the complaint of Ms. Norlyn Langgui was settled after she accepted management’s offer of P55, 000 for her claims on September 28, 2015.
Langgui, who was employed as domestic helper in Saudi Arabia by ATD International Services and Trading, came to the RCMB-NCR on August 19, 2015 to complain about her unpaid salary.
Meanwhile, the complaint of Ms. Claire Gaupo was settled after she accepted management’s offer of P36, 945.69 for her claim on September 23, 2015.
Gaupo, who was employed as human resource officer by Co Ban Kiat Hardware, came to the RCMB-NCR on September 8, 2015 to complain about her 13th month pay.
All of the complainants were assisted by Con-Med Estelita S. Bautista who needed only one or two conciliation meetings to settle their complaints.
“The speedy settlement of the foregoing disputes is proof that SENA works,” Pascual said.
“Had these SENA cases not been settled, the parties may be forced to litigate before the appropriate DOLE offices,” Pascual added.
She commended Con-Med Estelita S. Bautista for her efforts in helping the parties to find solution to their problems.- Renato R. Cañutal
