The complaint of Rodel C. Torres for total and permanent disability benefits based on CBA was settled after the issue was submitted to conciliation-mediation on November 27, 2018.
In the Branch’s report to OIC Executive Director Maria Teresita L. Cancio, Torres filed a Notice to Arbitrate against his manning agency, RCCL Crew Management, Inc., before the Regional Conciliation and Mediation Board-National Capital Region, claiming payment for total and permanent disability benefits and payment of moral and exemplary damages.
Con-Med Helena R. Flores handled the request. After series of conferences, Flores was able to settle the case on June 25, 2019. With the settlement, Torres got P3,019,200.00 as full settlement of his claims.
Torres thanked Flores for her efforts in facilitating the settlement of his claims.
Cancio commended Flores for her efforts in the settlement of the NTA.
Torres held the position of an upholsterer on board MV “Explorer of the Seas” until his repatriation to the Philippines sometime 2018 due to disc protrusion.
